Camping Dec. 20, 2006

Home

A dusting of snow on the mountains I'm going to.

Virgin snow on the road to the "lake" except for, probably, elk tracks.

The lake, frozen over with snow on it. I've never seen it like this before. In the middle of the afternoon it got to a high of 27 degrees!

I camped here. Early next morning it was down to 6 degrees. I stayed warm though. I've been doing this a long time. Bill, Ed and I used to even go backpacking in the winter.

Because it got so cold the night before, my lunch for the next day froze. How do you defrost buffalo meat while driving? Why use the defroster of course.

View from atop Emory Pass. The road leading up there is visible.

Gallinas Campground with the creek flowing.

Cooked lunch at the City of Rocks before I came home. Good toilets.

Good trip!
