Mykonos continued. The streets of Mykonos were all like this. Somewhere along here we bought a large hand painted vase, a reproduction of an original.
Yes, the food was excellent.
Shot from our table where we had a snack. I had a grilled octopus leg, suction cups and all.
This is our only stop in Turkey. The town is Kusadasi. We had an excursion to the mountain place where, supposedly, the virgin Mary spent the last days of her life. After that, we went to ancient Ephesus, one of the most spectacular sites of our trip.
Many resorts. The place is being bought up since the prices are good, in anticipation of Turkey finally joining the EU, when prices will increase.
This is the place where the virgin Mary spent her last days. A very tranquil, peaceful place. A mass was taking place inside, but we were allowed to quietly walk through.
The beginning of the tour of ancient Ephesus.
Ionic column.
Not a theatre; this is where the government of ancient Ephesus met.
Ephesus, unlike most Greek sites, had statues, even mosaic floors, out in the open, exposed to the elements. Greece had anything like that in museums.
This the main street of Ephesus, where most notables of antiquity had walked down in a procession. Antony and Cleopatra came along this street. The population of Ephesus, in it's heyday, was not 5, 10, or even 20,000 people, it was 250,000 people!
The mosaic floor.
