Greece 9

Rhodes continued.

These are ancient storage containers used for everything from olive oil and wine, to grain, etc. Around 400 BC.

Greek ruins at the higher elevations of Rhodes.

Lindos. On top are the ruins of a Temple of Athena, overlooking the Aegean. It's surrounded by a medieval fortress. The Greek ruins were much more spectacular than I expected.

The last leg of the climb up. The only way in is through the arched door.

Carved on the rock face is an ancient Greek carving of a ship.

Magnificent ancient Greek staircase.

Temple of Athena, with the Aegean in the background.

Back to the castle where we ate at a cafe.

The Palace of Knossos, from the ancient Minoan society, on the island of Crete, from around 2000 BC through around 1200 BC.

Bull horns carved in rock.

Storage rooms with some of the pots still there.

Bull jumping.

The throne room of the palace of Knossos.

The throne.

The throne with the offering bowl.
